Artsy Halloween in Orlando: Phantasmagoria

Aside from the usual Halloween events around Orlando (Universal Studio's Halloween Horror Nights probably being the most popular), there are quite a few artisitc happenings this season.  These include UCF Conservatory Theatre's Dracula as well as Orlando Shakespeare Theater's The Turning of the Screw

The one that caught my attention as being the most original is definitely Phantasmagoria, presented by the Empty Spaces Theatre Co.  From October 15th through October 31st see some of your favorite stories presented live in an innovative way.

From the event page:

PHANTASMAGORIA will feature large scale puppetry, shadow puppets, and our own “Grand Guignol Punch and Judy Stage” (complete with irreverently spurting blood geysers!) all interacting with live actors, fantastical dance and haunting storytelling!

Join us as we journey through haunting tales: Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”, “Earl Desmond and the Banshee”, Kafka’s “Metamorphosis”, Poe’s “The Raven” and the penny dreadful “Varney the Vampire”. Performing alongside these horrors is our Punch and Judy ““Man’s Inhumanity to Man!” which transports us from the first evil of Cain and Abel to the “monstrosities” of Jack the Ripper – as only Punch and Judy (and Toby the dog) could do!
