Outing: Free Music

I recently came across UCF Music's Fall 2010 schedule and noticed that most events were free and open to the public.  When I looked further, I found that UCF and Rollins College offer a pretty good selection of music, including classical, holiday, opera, and jazz.  Of course, you can't sit through a concert on an empty stomach...

Food  If your concert of interest falls around noon, you should check out Chuck's Restaurant (807 N. Mills).  Choose any of your favorite breakfast foods (traditional American and British) for $2 - $5.  If you plan on going to a later music event, King Cajun Crawfish (914 N. Mills) is getting rave reviews for their catfish po'boy sandwiches ($6) and gumbo ($4).  For something less adventurous but equally tasty, I already mentioned my favorite BBQ place in Orlando, Wildside (700 E. Washington).  Try a classic pulled pork sandwich ($8) or a vegetarian-friendly grilled portabella sandwich ($9).

Dessert  If you're already downtown, swing by Dessert Lady (120 W. Church) for delicious cakes, a coffee, or a glass of wine.  For the Winter Park area I recommend the Croissant Gourmet Bakery (120 E. Morse) for their awesome french pastries and flaky croissants.

Fun  Apart from all the contemporary music shows you can find downtown, Orlando also offers a lot of free classical and seasonal music.  Most of these are recitals and concerts by UCF, Rollins, and churches downtown.  Some upcoming free events in Downtown and Winter Park (and one in Oviedo just for fun):
