Halloween Weekend 2011 in Orlando

Halloween falls on a Monday this year, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of parties and events going on the weekend before.  This is only a small selection of haunted goings-on, so leave a comment below if you know of another one!

Downtown Orlando

Downtown is undoubtedly the best place to people watch this Halloween.  There, you'll find some of the most outrageous (and often inappropriate) costumes -- as well as some great bar hopping and drink specials.  Larger events include Wall Street Plaza's annual Plazaween, which lasts Saturday through Monday.  This block party costs $10 and includes live music, costume contests, and drink specials.  The Social is hosting a special Halloween edition of "Lets Go To 88 Party" this Saturday, so wear your best '80s/'90s outfit.  You can find more specific events over at Orlando Local Guide, but sometimes it's fun to just show up at Orange Ave and wing it from there.

Enzian Theater and Eden Bar

The Enzian in Maitland truly embraces Halloween annually.  This year, you can still visit their Haunted Swamp: Walk of Terror Friday, Saturday, and Monday night starting at 8:00pm.  Advanced tickets are $10, but you can still come and enjoy the bar, a Vincent Price movie, and games for free.  On Saturday, there will be a midnight showing of Friday the 13th.  Sunday is the Kids' Halloween Party with events starting at 11:00am.

East Orlando

Outside of Downtown you'll also find a lot of Halloween events, mostly geared towards kids.  Avalon Park is hosting a free outdoor showing of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Friday at 7:00pm.  Also on Friday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm is Lake Nona's Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular.  Come to the Waterford Lakes town center Monday, 6:00pm to 8:00pm, for Haunted Halloween trick-or-treating and costume contests.

Sanford

Sanford365 has compiled a great list of Halloween events for this weekend, including Spooky Hollow, Zoo Boo Bash, Walking Dead Pub Crawl, Monster Ball, and more.  They also list other Halloween events in Seminole County.

  2. Since it's only playing for a couple more days, they've gotten pretty expensive. Click the above link to see the most up-to-date prices.
