Happy 2012!

It already looks like 2012 will be a great year for Orlando.

First, Orlando got a lot of positive press for being one of the best cities in the US to celebrate New Year's Eve.  Travelocity put us at number one on their top ten listTravel+Leisure magazine also mentions Orlando, as well as as CNBC.  Orlando even made it onto a few international lists, mostly for being one of the world's most family-friendly New Year's Eve destination.

And for the new year, Orlando has also been cited on best places to visit lists, including Lonely Planet and CNN Travel.  The main reason:  Orlando will host the 61st NBA All-Star Weekend this February.  But aside from hosting one of the most popular sporting events of the year, articles have been encouraging those visiting Orlando to explore its other side, from parks and museums to restaurants and performing arts.

Of course, these are just lists that don't always reflect the reality of our city.  Still, my opinion has always been that the more people see and hear about Orlando, the better.  As we continue to move into the national and international spotlight this year, I want to keep exploring the things that make Orlando unique: the people, the food, the nightlife, and the sights.  All in all, we have a lot to look forward to, so stay tuned for more ways to enjoy your favorite city.
