Last-Minute 4th of July Plans?

3rd of July Events

Since the 4th of July is the day a lot of us have off, many late-night events in Central Florida happen on the 3rd of July.  The most popular of these is Red Hot & Boom at Altamonte's Cranes Roost Park.  This is a free event packed full of popular music acts like Karmin, Jo Jo, and Cobra Starship, as well as a variety of food, games, and a huge fireworks show.

On July 3rd and 4th, Downtown's Wall Street Plaza will host Red, White, and Brew.  The block party starts the 3rd at 9:00pm and is free; the official event starts the 4th at 4:00pm with all-you-can-drink Sam Adams from 5:00pm to 8:00pm for $10.

In the same vein, Downtown's Church Street is hosting Red, White, and Booze.  July 3rd from 4:00pm to 2:00am, enjoy $2-$3 drink and burgers.

Theme Parks

Just like I wrote last year, the Orlando theme parks offer a great fireworks spectacle for 4th of July.  For more on watching fireworks at Disney, Universal, Sea World, and LegoLand, check out this article from About.com.

Downtown Orlando

Probably the best (and free) Independence Day event is held at Lake Eola Park in Downtown Orlando.  The event starts at 4:00pm and concludes with a fireworks show at 9:20pm.  There will be entertainment on two stages and over 30 booths.  Come early for good spots or make friends with someone in a high-rise.

Local Events

If you're looking for an event closer to home, take a look at this post over at Unlock Orlando.  Special fireworks include Celebration Town Center (9:30pm), Lake Fairview (north College Park, 9:00pm), Avalon Park (9:00pm), Winter Park (9:00am - 1:00pm), and Winter Garden (9:15pm).  The events themselves, with activities and food, usually start in the afternoon.
