Orlando Weekend Preview: February 8th - 10th, 2013

With weather in the mid-to-upper 70s this weekend, get out and enjoy our Florida winter -- whether it's running around in your underwear (see below) or exploring the great outdoors.

Valentine's Day (Food) Pre-Gaming

If the spirit of love has already gotten a hold of you early, or you're just hungry, consider going to the Homegrown Cooperative (2130 N Orange Ave) for their special Valentine's Day Farmers Market on Friday between 5:30pm and 8:30pm.  Shop for last-minute gifts and organic food.

On Sunday, come to the Dear Prudence / Park Ave CDs parking lot in Audubon Park (2912 Corrine Dr) for Vintage, Valentines, and Food Trucks.  Food trucks, vintage clothing sellers, vinyl vendors, and beer stands will set up shop from 1:00pm to 6:00pm with an after-party at Redlight Redlight next door.

For the vegetarians in your life, join the Vegetarians of Central Florida Meetup group at Sandy Bonus Fine Arts (142 S Swoope Ave, Maitland) and treat them to A Raw Valentine's Affair this Sunday at 5:00pm.  $10 includes drinks, savory snacks, and sweets.

If you're strolling along Park Ave, be sure to stop by the Valentine Concert in Winter Park's Central Park.  This free event is this Sunday from 4:00pm to 6:30pm and features Michael Andrew & Swingerhead.

Lastly, this Saturday at 2:30pm is your chance to run around Downtown in your underwear (romantic, right?).  The Cupid's Undie Run supports the Children's Tumor Foundation, so if you like charity and undergarments, the $30 fee is well worth it.  Plus, you'll get to see the mayor in his underwear.

Drink, Mingle, Learn

Friday is the ninth PechaKucha Night Orlando, hosted by The Orange Studio (1121 N Mills Ave).  Doors open at 7:00pm ($10 entry), so get ready to grab a drink and pechakucha (Japanese for chitchat).  At 8:00pm, the presentations begin, covering a wide variety of topics in 20 images of 20 seconds each.

Lunar New Year 2013

On Sunday, be sure to be at Hillcrest and Hampton (Little Vietnam / Mills50) at 10:45am for the start of the 2013 Dragon Parade Lunar New Year Festival.  The parade ends in the Colonial Photo & Hobby parking lot, where you can see acrobatic performances, martial arts demonstrations, cultural dances, art vendors, and food carts until 4:00pm.

Explore the Florida Outdoors

All weekend long you can come to Apopka to experience the Old Florida Outdoor Festival.  If it's outdoorsy or Florida-y, you'll find it here -- from fishing, birding, and hunting to BBQ and chili cook-offs, they have you covered.
