Weekend Preview June 7th - June 9th, 2013: Things to Do in Orlando

Saturday means a good, old fashion pool party ~ Check it out below!
All weekend

Are you a soccer enthusiast? Check out the Harp and Celt as they'll be screening a ton of matches throughout the weekend including the USA World Cup qualifier against Jamaica this evening starting at 9:30 pm.

Friday, June 7th

Get yourself a free doughnut at Krispy Kreme today for National Doughnut Day! Stop by the Orlando (4080 Millenia Ave) and Winter Park (1031 South Orlando Ave) locations.

We're stoked about this season's First Friday at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum for the Opening Celebration of their summer shows. Not to be missed is Studio Malick, featuring Malian photographer (and one of the greatest of our time) Malick Sidibe's 1960s photography of Bamakoan youth fashion, dance, and culture. FREE food, music, art, and a photobooth! 4:00 to 8:00pm.

Will you be among the Ruckus or the Iron Lion Firm for Friday's Orlando City game against Phoenix? Game starts at 7:30, but it'd be a shame not to join in on the Supporter Group Member Drive tailgate party (free beer and prizes). Don't forget to wear pink to support breast cancer survivors! (And don't miss an auction for the exclusive pink jerseys the players will be wearing.)

Stardust Video and Coffee will be featuring some great music, dancing, and a pin-up concert at their Jive After 5 party at 8:00pm, tickets are $8.

Head over to Lil Indies tonight for Purple Rain: An Impromptu Prince Birthday Celebration. Why? Because why not?? 10:00pm to 2:00am, FREE, 21+.

Saturday, June 8th

Following the Jive after 5 party, check out live blues and rockabilly at Wet 'n' Wild With the Wildtones, Keith Jones and the Makeshifts, Hot Hands. This is an old-school pool party, people! Head over to the Travelodge (409 N Magnolia Ave) at noon in your swimwear. This free event is also a picnic of sorts, so bring the food and drink you require, but no glass please!

We all know Saturday Night Live, but how about Science Night Live? $15 gets you in to the Orlando Science Center's “adult swim” of the science variety! They promise to show you how grown-ups do the Orlando Science Center!

Missed it in Brooklyn, Chicago, or DC? Orlando Zine Fest is raging at 3:00pm at Uncle Lou's Entertainment Hall (1016 N Mills Ave). This just may be the raddest, hidden gem on this Weekend Preview... Create your own comics and artworks, plus hear live tunes by Hot Hands, Girls on the Beach, and Exitbags. Zine is making a comeback, so buy, sell, trade, dance, sing, and have a blast at this odd Orlando event!

Join Burrow Press Managing Editor and 15 Views Series Editor Nathan Holic at Quantum Leap Winery for his American Fraternity Man book release party. From 2:00 to 5:00pm, get your wine on while Nathan gets his sign on (i.e. he'll be signing books...).

From 9:00am to 2:00pm, enjoy great FREE outdoor activities at Get Outdoors Casselberry! This includes free paddleboarding, kayaking, and yoga. Check out the schedule for deets.

Doin' it and doin' it and doin' it, yeah... FREE outdoor concert featuring LL Cool J (better known as Ladies Love Cool James) in Downtown Orlando on the corner of Orange Ave and Livingston St. Gates open at 4:00pm.
Ladies love a good Kangol hat!
Sunday, June 9th

Cheer on some chicks who can kick your butt at Orlando Psycho City Derby Girls' Roller Derby match up between the Arkham Assailants and the Serial Thrillers (who comes up with these names?!?) at 5:00pm at Semoran Skateway.

Sunday at 7:30pm, the Lions take on the Antigua Barracuda FC. As always, tickets start at $15.

From noon to 4:30pm, it's Free Family Day at the Mennello Museum of American Art.
