This edition of our Weekend Preview really shows what Orlando's all about: a never-ending smorgasbord of events for you to explore. Whiskey tastings and live music - sure! Sporting events and drag shows - why not? Mermaids - obvs!

Weekend Events

"The eccentric, hold-out-hippie grandmother, her conventional daughter, and her Goth granddaughter take their traditional Sunday bus ride" in Downtown Credo's premier of the new play A Slow Ride. Check it out any night this weekend for $15, which also includes a glass of beer or wine at the College Park Graffiti Junktion.

Friday, July 19th

Catch a CineMagic showing of The Kids Are all Right at the Winter Park Library tonight at 6:30pm; $5.

Eternal Tap is celebrating its Whiskey Cellar Grand Opening this Friday at 6:00pm. From 8:00 to 10:00pm, enjoy a complimentary cocktail and food sampling.

Saturday, July 20th

Attention flora-enthusiasts: Leu Gardens is hosting a class called Historic Horticultural Pioneers of Central Florida ($14) this Saturday from 10:00am to noon (NOTE: You must register before 5:00pm on Friday). Before and after the class, grab breakfast at Winter Park's weekly Farmers Market from 7:00am to 1:00pm.

Two weeks ago we told you about an NYT article about classic-Florida Weeki Wachee Springs. Well, this Saturday's your chance to not only meet these lovely half-fish-half-ladies, but also to enjoy them for the next 16 months (without getting a restraining order filed against you!). Head over to the 2014 Mermaid Calendar Release and Signing from 9:00am to 11:00am.

Isn't it about time you did something with your kids that you actually wanted to do? Take them to Storybook Yoga this Saturday, 11:00am, at the downtown Orlando Public Library. This free event is for kids ages 3 to 6; call 407.835.7323 to register. Ooooohmmmmm

I am WOMAN is a women's empowerment forum held this Saturday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at SAK Comedy Lab in downtown Orlando. Their mission is to entertain, educate, and encourage women with passion, purpose and fulfillment; tickets are $5.


After two away games, the Lions are back with OCSC vs. Harrisburg City Islanders, Saturday at 7:30pm with tickets starting at $15. Come early for the Supporter Group Member Drive Tailgate Party with free Orlando Brewing beer, prizes, music, and more.

While you're in the neighborhood, be sure to catch a show at the The 5th Annual Southern Fried Sunday Music Festival Fundraiser, along North Mills Ave starting at 5:00pm. Live music, booths, food trucks, comedy, pin-up girls, burlesque, and kid-friendly activities at four of our favorite Mills50 venues; tickets are $12/$15 day of and they benefit 16-year-old Nick Pollock who is in the process of kicking brain cancer's ass.
