Weekend Preview October 17th - 20th, 2013: Things to Do in Orlando

The Orlando Film Festival is happening this weekend! From October 16th through the 20th, check out almost 100 different movies shown around town. Day passes start at $10.

Valencia College is showing everyone's favorite '20s-themed jailhouse burlesque musical this weekend. Get your tickets for Chicago starting at $12.

Uptown Altamonte's Cranes Roost Park is hosting the Latin Food & Wine Festival this Friday (6:30 to 10:30pm) and Saturday (4:00 to 10:00pm). Parking and admission are free; food and drink prices range from $1 to $7. Live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, celebrity chefs, and more!

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is Harley-Davidson Orlando's Hogtoberfest.

Forest of Fear. Horsepower Ranch horse ranch and pumpkin patch transforms into a trail of terror as men scream like little girls while take a guided tour through eerie woods. $15 for 2 tix with this Groupon we found (We know there's a way to earn money by linking to these damn things but we haven't figured it out yet....). Orlando Ballet kicks off its season with "Tribute," a collection of classical and contemporary pieces including "Swan Lake," "Romeo & Juliet" and "Vampire's Ball."

Thursday, October 17th

It's time for another Third Thursday Gallery Hop & Art Walk tonight in Downtown Orlando from 6:00 to 9:00pm.

Part of downtown's Third Thursday is a very special Dia de los Muertos & Monster Factory at CityArts Factory. It's opening night, and that means a ridic block party complete with live music, performance art, face painting, food, and--of course--a día de los muertos procession with GIANT PUPPETS.

TEDx is back in town with TEDxOrlandoSalon at Taste Restaurant (717 W Smith St), Thursday at 7:00pm.

Friday, October 18th

With the weather this nice, it's hard to go downtown and not go to Wall Street Plaza's Friday Night Block Party, starting at 9:00pm.

Just a few blocks away at the Amway Center, catch the Orlando Magic vs. Memphis Grizzlies at 7:00pm. Tickets start at $12.

Just in time for Halloween! Theatre UCF’s annual Costume Sale is from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Among the highly anticipated items are the pink petal dress from Theatre UCF’s production of The Fantasticks and the Lizardman costume from Sideshow (below) (that's some creepy shit right there). With most costumes priced between $2-$5 - this is our kind of sale!


Join The Smiling Bison for a special evening of music with 2 sets by Blues/Soul chanteuse Kaleigh Baker, in town from her new home base of Colorado, and an opening set by vocalist/guitarist Drew Yardis as part of their Grand Opening Week celebration. 10:30pm show, FREE.
