We thought we'd jump on the holiday bandwagon and add our local spin. Here are our favorite gifts by local folks, all < $20!
MAKR - Bottle Key $11
Jason Gregory's MAKR started with a simple, perfectly executed wallet and became a gentleman's brand. If you want to read a great article with insanely beautiful pictures (how is their studio so clean?!?!?), check out Grain&Gram's profile of Jason and his Winter Park company.
Penny Brave - Born Vigilante Tee $20
We highlighted this great brand in a recent interview with its creator and his gorgeous wife. They shared their favorite local spots and why #orlandodoesntsuck.
Beard Sauce - Original Beard Sauce $12
Got an itchy, flaky beard? There are Orlandoan wizzards who have brewed a powerful, natural elixir to tame that beast of facial hair on your chin. Make that beard your bitch.
Rifle Paper Co - Vintage Blossom Notebook Set $14
We love Rifle. We love them enough not to mind that they didn't include Orlando in their 2014 Travel America Calendar (but, why Anna? WHY?!?!). Most of all though- we love that the have packs of 2 notebooks starting at $10. (Also, this Saturday, Dec. 14th, Rifle is having a Sidewalk Sale)
Happy Hands Nail Polish - Dance Macabre 2.0 $7.50
If you follow our instagram, you know that there's a resident polish-fiend here at theORLANDOAN. So we had to include this local brand of quirky, fun polishes. They have a whole line based on The Simpsons characters. Need we say more?
Lure Designs - Promise Poster $10
Cultship - Lake Eola Sky Art Print $15
theORLANDOAN - ORLANDO DOESN'T SUCK Limited Run Tee $18
Cause you knew we were going to include our super fantastic limited run of #orlandodoesntsuck shirts. (We are at one with our shameless self-promotion).

Plane Paper - Laser-cut Bottle Tag $4.50
Two local architects took the laser-cutting they learned in the classroom and applied it to great cards, tags, and stationary. Their 2014 Geometric Calendar, while over our $20 limit, is a thing of beauty.
Burrow Press - 15 Views Vol.II: Corridor $15
We are HUGE fans of Orlando's local independent publishing house, Burrow Press. And the fact that they're aligned with Page15 (Urban Think Foundation's child literacy program) only sweetens the deal. Their books are all under $20, but you can always pick up a subscription for a year's worth of locally-published reading. This volume of 15 Views focuses on Orlando and Tampa and features short stories by some of our favorite Orlando lit folks- all set in Orlando or Tampa.
What local gifts are you giving this year?
Thanks to this list, I'm pretty much done with my christmas gifts! :)
ReplyDeleteAh! Beard Sauce is a cool product at the wrong price point. I would've grabbed a few today at 5.99.
