Another pre-holiday weekend... meaning tons of holiday-themed events. But, we added some odd ones in there to keep you awake!
Weekend Events
East Orlando boasts two holiday-themed events this weekend. The first is Light up UCF, with a jam-packed calendar of carriage rides, Santa workshops, ice skating, and other attractions. Oh, and don't forget the movies: Elf (Friday, 7:00 and 9:30pm) and Home Alone (Saturday, 7:00 and 9:30pm).
On Friday and Saturday, the Seminole State College Planetarium is showing Star of Bethlehem at 7:00 and 8:30pm both nights. "Star of Bethlehem" looks into the issue of the Christmas star from a scientific standpoint, breaking down the existence of Jesus of Nazareth, the story of the Magi, and the astronomical events that may help to explain the Star. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 reduced, and free for Seminole State students.
Friday, December 20th
Violectric Holiday Concert at the Lake Eola band shell is an experience that combines classical and electronic music. Check it out for FREE, Friday at 7:00pm.
Saturday, December 21st
Saturdays are always great to see some...unique performances at your local library. The group Step by Step Dance Studio will perform at the downtown library from 11:00am to 2:00pm, while on the east side of town, the Alafaya branch is hosting Holiday Showcase: Accordion Craze by the Central Florida Accordion Club (also at 11:00am). Yes. There is a club for this. (Not gonna lie, we own an accordion too... but more for the folksy cred then for anything else.)
The Russian Ballet of Orlando presents the 14th Annual Lake Eola Nutcracker, free performance at the Lake Eola band shell at 7:00pm.
The Falcon Presents: C-Note Collection - "On Saturday, the Falcon team packs the walls with amazing art deals and steals. All of the pieces are priced under $100, which means you can throw out that old Walmart Banksy print and get something a little more 'meaty' to hang over your IKEA couch this holiday season." - Brendan O'Connor's spot-on write up in the Weekly; 9:00pm to 2:00am.

Dammit, Orlando. Rock Hard Revue "Naughty and Nice Holiday Bash" - Fully costumed and choreographed production featuring "sexy" male performers at Roxy. Because we couldn't not mention this ridiculousness. $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Sunday, December 22nd
Come out and support the talented musicians of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra this Sunday at 4:00pm at the Mead Botanical Garden Amphitheater. Tickets are $10 and free for educators.
The time has come!! The College Park Makers Market is now open on Sundays in front of Infusion Tea. Be there for their Grand Opening at 11:00am.
Starting at 2:00pm and going on into the night, the The 10th Annual Lennon Tribute Christmas Party Fundraiser features music, art, food, and drinks to celebrate and fundraise in the name of John Lennon. Tickets are $10 and it's happening at The Veranda at Thornton Park (111 N Summerlin Ave).
The folks over at Orlando Brewing are organizing Orlando's first Medical Marijuana Rally this Sunday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. No-cover event featuring five local bands.
