Valentine's Event Guide: 2014 Edition

Valentine's day: love it or hate it, these events will make sure you're not alone with your cats all night...

Wednesday, February 5th

Friday, February 7th

Head over to the Grand Bohemian for a lesson by the Jazz Professors (8:00 to 11:00pm). Grab a drink and enjoy these smooth stylings in the Bösendorfer Lounge's sultry atmosphere.

For a little more grit, check out Be My Valentine Friday: Colette with Alison Tara at Sandwich Bar, starting at 9:30pm.

If you're all about "first loves and second chances" (stole that from the tagline), and have a questionable taste in movie, check out Stuck in Love at Leu Gardens' date night. Gardens open at 6:00, movie starts at 7:00pm; tickets are $6 adult, $3 kids, and free for members.

Saturday, February 8th

The Show Your Love, Share Your Love Wine Walk, a fundraiser for the Audubon Park Garden District, is happening this Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00pm, complete with drinks and interactive art installations. Tix start at $18.

Sunday, February 9th

If you've been looking to snag some satanic kitten leggings head to the 3rd Annual Vintage Valentines thrift sale. From 1:00 to 6:00pm, Dear Prudence (2912 Corrine Dr) is having some friends over, including Dechoes, Other People's Property, Retromended, and more.

Tuesday, February 11th

Every Tuesday, Valentine's Day or not, Stardust Lounge hosts Dirty Bingo. Get a card with every drink purchased after 9:00pm and win adult prizes (i.e. dildos).

Thursday, February 13th

Leave your bearded fellow at home 'cause it's Redlight's 2nd Annual Galentine's Day from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Get dolled up and come out for great drink specials, complimentary sweets, cool vendors, and ~sssh~ surprises.

Don't miss Thursday's romantic Nerd Nite: Nerdy Speed Dating, Virtual Virgins, and Whips n’ Chains n’ Dirty Names! Come grab a beer and learn about the science and sociology of sexual subcultures. Stardust Video & Coffee, 6:00 - 8:00pm for the speed dating, 8:00pm - 10:00pm, $10.

Not quite nerdy enough? FINE. Sharpen your pencils, get out your sketchbooks, and get ready for Drink & Draw: Amore Edition! The Geek Easy will have a pair of models posing in a variety of couples cosplays for your drawing enjoyment! $10, 8:00 - 11:00pm

Doors will open at 8pm and our or models - will start posing at approximately 8:15pm. The event will run through 11pm with breaks for costume changes, drinks, and mingling.

Friday, February 14th

Pack your picnic basket and grab a bottle of wine, because it's about to get slutty romantic at Leu Gardens' Valentine's Day Stroll, starting at 6:00pm. Order your tickets ahead of time for $20.

Another one for the nerdy-inclined folks out there: The Geek Easy presents VALENTINES DAY: Professor Shyguy / Marc With a C/ Nerdy Karaoke. What does it all mean?? Nerdy pop jams. A one-man chip-pop band. And nerdy karaoke. YES, PLZ.

From the event page: If you come, we will build it. Hundreds of "hearticipants" come together on Valentine's day to build a huge human heart for human rights. Invite others & join in this fun, positive and visually stunning way to express that at the ♥ of the issue of LGBTQ justice and equality is love. Sunset (6:14pm) at Loch Haven Park.

  4. I was at this place last month; I spent much of my early evening just staring out the windows sipping my glass of wine. They deserve kudos for their nice selection of wine.

  5. Great party ideas for the valentine day! I think I’ll be doing this with my buddies at one of the event space San Francisco has. This valentine will be about me loving myself and having a great time with the friends I have. You have a good one this year!
