Weekend Preview: April 25th - 27th, 2014

Now THIS is the kind of weekend we're talking about! Read on for more festivals than one weekend should be allowed to have.

Weekend Events

This weekend, downtown Orlando will be inundated by the 2014 Florida Music Festival and Conference. Check out the complete schedule of 10 stages, 150 bands, and many other activities. Single day passes are now on sale for $10/day.

The Nautique Wake Games are in Orlando this weekend, so grab your board, tank top, and energy drink, and head down to the Orlando Watersports Complex Friday through Sunday.

In the mood for a day trip? Check out the 5th Annual Halifax Oyster & Music Festival in downtown Daytona Beach this Saturday and Sunday; $10.

The Great American Pie Festival. Need we say more? Saturday and Sunday in Celebration; endless pie buffet (yes, we are serious) is $10 adults, $5 kids/seniors.

Meanwhile, Apopka will welcome spring with its 52nd Annual Apopka Art and Foliage Festival this Saturday and Sunday.

Friday, April 25th

Love me some Orlando Critical Mass--or should I say April Critical Blast? Meet at 5:30pm at Loch Haven Park with your bike (or crazy variation thereof) for a 6:00pm departure.

A recent city ordinance has declared that Lake Eola Park will now be called Movieola Park. Just kidding...sort of. Check out the first Movieola this Friday at 6:30pm on the park's East Lawn for games, music, food, and a free showing of Frozen at 8:00pm.

The Asian Cultural Association invites you to An Evening of Indian Music with violin maestro Kala Ramnath and tabla star Abhijit Banerjee. The concert takes place this Friday, 7:30pm, at the HSCF Auditorium in Casselberry; $15.

Saturday, April 26th

Get in touch with your German heritage (or hefty appetite and thirst for liters of beer) this weekend at the German-American Society of Central Florida's annual Maifest. The festival includes food, live music and dancing, contests, and general organized fun. Saturday from 2:00 to 11:00pm; $5, kids under 12 free.

From noon to 4:00pm, Audubon Park Garden District will host the Fourth Annual Kidsfest with art, music, snacks, and more.

91.5 WPKR and The Sandspur are teaming up once again to bring you Fox Fest '14, this Saturday at 4:00pm. This FREE festival, located behind the Rollins bookstore, includes live music, art, food, and refreshments. As the event says, "come twerk your whatevers and rock your faces."

Doors open this Saturday at 9:00pm for The Space's latest show, featuring Maximino, SALES, Native Feel, and Bellows, along with local art and merchandise; $5, 21+. (Also, check out their indiegogo campaign to raise money for their own PA system.)

Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight. If you know what show this is from, you are cordially invited to The Geek Easy's Kawaii Till We Die dance party this Saturday at 8:00pm; no cover; 18+. Cosplay encouraged (obvs.).

Sunday, April 27th

Are you kidding me right now, you want even more? Fine...

Don't forget: the Florida Music Festival, Wake Games, Oyster & Music Festival, Pie Festival, and Apopka Art & Foliage Festival are still going on Sunday (see above).

As always, there is the newly expanded Orlando Farmer's Market (10:00am to 4:00pm) and the College Park Makers Market (11:00am to 3:00pm).

Lastly, have a relaxing Sunday evening by waiting to see if your favorite character gets dismembered at The Geek Easy's Game of Thrones Viewing Party at 8:00pm.
