Weekend Preview: May 9th - 11th, 2014

This hot and humid weather isn't enough to keep us Floridians inside, especially not with all these events going on in Central Florida this weekend!

Friday, May 9th

If you haven't had a chance to try out the new SunRail, want to check it out again, or are just using it to get home after work, consider hopping on for the #OrlandoConductorCrawl. Friday at 6:00pm, meet at Cafe Red (54 W Church St) for some drinks before heading to Winter Park for--you guessed it--more drinks!

It's the second Friday of the month, and that means it's time for another Mount Dora Art Stroll. From 6:00 to 8:00pm, the town comes alive with art, music, drinks, and snacks.

Florida Fashion weekend starts Friday with the Kickoff Press Party & Happy Hour, which is your chance to schmooze with models, designers, artists, and local who's-who. Your $12 ticket also includes live music, hor d'oeuvres, and drink specials.

Saturday, May 10th

With two stages and 14 bands (and at exactly $20), Reggae on the Block is your chance to enjoy a little island time in the city this Saturday. I can already feel the "love, music, and good vibrations."

Smashington 2014 Orlando Florida music festival local bands
But wait, that's not the only music in town this Saturday:  Soul of da City Entertainment presents Smashington 2014, a one-day Orlando-based showcase with dozens of artists on three stages. Tickets are $10 pre-sale, $15 at the door. Pro-tip: Click the album to the left for a free download of 30 tracks you may hear this Saturday.

Question: I love food, beer, wine, and live music, preferably all outside. Where can I find that? Answer: At Taste of Sanford on the Water, this Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm.

Edgewater Drive will be transformed into a dance floor this Saturday in the name of College Park's Dancing on the Drive Street Party. This free kid-and-dog-friendly event starts at 6:00pm and goes until 11:00pm.

Orlando / Central Florida Farmers Markets - Orlando, Winter ParkSunday, May 11th

Our favorite Sunday combo (when we're not recovering from two music festivals, stuffing our faces, and dancing our asses off the night before) is to do some Yoga in Lake Eola Park at 11:00am, and then head over to the recently expanded Orlando Farmers Market, every Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

No HBO? No biggie. Just stop by the Geek Easy for their weekly Game of Thrones Live Viewing, promptly at 8:00pm. Maybe take your mom and buy her a last-minute Mother's Day present...?
