Weekend Preview: June 19th - June 22nd, 2014

Weekend Events

Friday through Sunday, from 10:00am to 5:00pm each day, is the 24th Annual Harvest Festival at Lakeridge Winery. A $2 donation lets you stomp the grapes, enjoy live music, and shop at the 80+ arts, food, and drink vendors. Oh, and don't miss the complimentary winery tours and tasting.

*Bonus* Thursday, June 19th

A story as old as time: the good, the bad, and the ugly come alive tonight at the 3rd Thursday Gallery Hop in Downtown Orlando. Some of the can't-miss venues include The Falcon Staff Art ShowBside Artists at City Arts Factory, and People, Places and Things at the Gallery at Avalon Island. Also, TrIP (Transit Interpretation Project) will open its TrIP Diaries show at the Downtown Orlando Information Center.

While you're downtown, don't miss the last day of the Questlove DJ Series, which completes his residency at The Social. Tickets are $20, 18+, 10:00pm.

Friday, June 20th

There's a new exhibit opening up Friday at the Snap! Space, and you won't want to miss it. Snap! Attacks! includes highly curated works from photography, painting, illustration, video, and more. The kickoff party starts at 6:00pm; RSVP here. (And don't miss the Artist Talks on Saturday.)

Worker Bird is visiting Florida to host a pop-up shop of one-of-a-kind tin collages. Stop by the Lure Paper Goods Store on Virginia Drive this Friday between 6:30 and 9:30pm.

It's time for another #OrlandoConductorCrawl! This time, meet the gang at 6:00pm at Cafe Red and check out some cool venues in Downtown and Winter Park. Round-trip fare is $4.25; ask about the drink specials.

Saturday, June 21st

Don't wash your hair, because this Saturday is the Central Florida International Reggae Festival at the Festival Park in Orlando from 11:00am to 7:00pm. Tickets are $20.

World Giraffe Day at the Central Florida Zoo is your chance to hang with these necky creatures and celebrate the longest day of the year alongside the world's tallest animal. 10:00am to 3:00pm, with face painting, activities, and giraffe feeding (which costs extra).

The Lakeside Inn at Mount Dora is kicking off the summer with a Lawn Concert and Street Palooza this Saturday beginning at 5:00pm.

Hoarders, look away: this Saturday, the Orlando Elks Club will host a Vintage Faire with furniture, clothes, and anything else you'd find at a good ol' flea market. Starts at 8:30am; every third Saturday.

If you're looking for an outdoor pool to use this summer, grab your polka-dot bikini and head over to the Winter Park Community Center for an Old School Pool Party, this Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Free for WP residents; 50% off for non-residents; 18+.

Rumfest 10 at Wall Street Plaza is back this year, with tons of rum vendors and even more chances to embarrass yourself. (Remind yourself now that no, you probably don't have the salsa skills to be dancing in public like that.) Get your tickets online for $20.

Sunday, June 22nd

If you're not too hungover from Rumfest, come back to the Wall Street Plaza for the USA vs. Portugal Watch Party. Come in your America gear and grab a good seat before the game begins at 6:00pm. For a quieter atmosphere, stop by The Imperial around 4:00pm for drinks by The Courtesy Bar. Looking for more places to watch? Check out our Where to Watch the 2014 World Cup in Orlando guide.

"Sunday brunch is boring!" Not if you're going to Sunday Punk Brunch at The Peacock Room. $7 gets you in for food, record swap, and live punk bands.

Jumanji and the Ouija Board have
made me fear board games.

Sunday at noon, The Enzian is showing Jumanji (my personal favorite) for $5. I'm not sure if they let adults order off the kids PB&J menu...

Starting at 2:00pm and going into the night, Summer Jam Milk Edition will take over the Milk District with three different danceable venues, tons of DJs, and lots of drink choices.

Lastly, round off your weekend with the lovely ladies at the Orlando Psycho City Derby, as they present Arkham Assailants vs Serial Thrillers. The match starts at 4:30pm; tickets are $10 advance, $13 at the door; beer, drinks, and snacks available for purchase.
