Weekend Preview: June 27th - June 29th, 2014

Movieola Outdoor Movies at Lake Eola, Downtown Orlando Free

Weekend Events

Retromended Vintage is hosting its annual Weekend Sidewalk Sale on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:00pm, with crazy discounts and special guest vendors.

It's the last weekend to try the bite30 menu at some of Orlando's coolest restaurants. Over a dozen restaurants are participating in the $10 to $15 lunch and dinner menus. (But don't go to Sushi Lola's, since they think they don't have to honor the deal on weekends...)

Friday, June 27th

It's time for another installation of Movieola, the monthly movie series at Lake Eola Park. Come by for games and food starting at 6:30pm, with Despicable Me 2 starting at 8:30pm.

You've wasted countless hours dedicated some time and emotional investment into the characters in The Office? Well, you're in luck: Bikes, Beans & Bordeaux (newly expanded!) is hosting The Office Trivia Night, this Friday at 7:00pm.

It's the last Friday of the month, which means Critical Mass will be happening at 5:30pm at Loch Haven Park. This month's bike gang will be a special June Memorial Mass for Furoche, so come out and support safe cycling.

Fourth Friday also means that the Sanford Art Walk will take place from 6:00 to 9:00pm, with live music, bars, restaurants, and galleries showing off their best art in historic downtown Sanford.

For a more sultry artsy experience, The Venue presents Burlesque After Dark: NOIR. It's dark, it's lurid, it's $16 online / $20 at the door; doors at 10:00pm.

Orlando Burlesque Shows Downtown the Venue

Saturday, June 28th

The Casselberry Farmers Market is every Saturday from 9:00am to 1:30pm (next to the Police Station on 17-92), and every last Saturday of the month they feature a special selection of vendors selling green goods. Alternatively, check out the Winter Park Farmers Market, happening every Saturday from 7:00am to 1:00pm.

While you're in Casselberry, stop by Get Outdoors! Casselberry, a free family event at Secret Lake Park from 9:00am to noon where you can learn about slacklining, kayaking, paddleboarding, and other thing kids these days needs more of.

If you're a tech master looking for a job, be sure to visit the Upstart Expo at East End Market this Saturday from 9:00am to noon to chat directly with employers who are ready to hire.

Orlando Halloween Summer Birthday Party
Summer + Birthday Party + Halloween = The Falcon's Summerween 2014: Aloha from Hell. It has everything you need for a spooky summer, including costume contests, sand, voodoo, and live music.

The 2nd Annual Summer Heat Car and Bike Show is more than just cars and bikes--it's also prizes, music, food, free beer (!), vendors, door prizes, drawings, a watermelon eating contents, and (according to the flyer) luscious ladies. Come see how luscious they really are at Space Coast Harley Davidson this Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

In its never-ending awesomeness, Downtown Credo will host a free Conduit Workshop: Classic Cocktails. Learn about the theory behind the drinks and try out your mixing skills this Saturday at 11:00am; $10 suggested donation, 21+.

Sunday, June 29th

Check out the best in local film-making at the Enzian's Film Slam '14, where you get to vote to see who goes on to the Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase (so, yeah, your vote is kind of a big deal). This is the first of five monthly events, happening this Sunday at 1:00pm; tickets are $5.

Recover from your weekend with some Yoga in Lake Eola Park (11:00am) followed by breakfast at the recently expanded Orlando Farmers Market (10:0am - 4:00pm).
