A male review / circus combo, a farewell party, and kinky shopping--this weekend is gettin' weird.
Friday, August 15th
Who needs Cirque du Soleil when you have the American Circus Arts Academy Grand Opening that has three shows in one! Everything you could imagine about a circus with a bonus male review at the end, along with several auctions throughout the night. Starts at 6:00pm, $10 for one show, $15 for 2, or $20 for all 3.
On behalf of the I.D.E.A.S. initiative "Project Rethink" (seen at the first OrlandoSOUP!), Shine Shed brings you a night of art, music, and a little bit of thought in their Industrial Roots art show. Get groovy with us while pondering the effects of WASTE and the many ways we can reduce it! Repent! AND confess your environmental wrong doings at the Environmental Confessional Booth! No judgement, just improvement.
Saturday, August 16th
So you just got paid and are in the market for some new jewelry, or toys, or... bondage rope, right? Don't get your knickers in a twist (unless you're into that), the Woodshed Orlando has a Shopping Extravaganza! where you can pick up anything from floggers to regular greeting cards. Shopping will never have made you feel so guilty; 3:00-7:00pm.
Would you rather pick up some vintage clothes while listening to great music from Lazy Afternoon? Well, lucky for you Retromended Vintage in Ivanhoe is having a 2 Year Anniversary Courtyard Party from 2:00 to 6:00pm with refreshments and 25% off the whole store (and plenty of $5-$10 goodies!).
No matter what stage of grief you're in, it's happening Orlando--we are losing BBQ Bar, Eye Spy, and Sky Sixty. But not before we re-live our early-'20s (for those reading this that are currently in your early-'20s, get off our lawn...we mean that in the most bitter and jealous way possible) by joining BBQ Bar in celebrating with them for their Bittersweet 16 Party!
[We at theORLANDOAN have a special place in our hearts for BBQ Bar because it's where our lovely sister met her husband, as well as Eye Spy where our Instagramer first hung out with her husband. Join us in celebrating all the drunk photobooth pictures, the wallpaper made out of band stickers, the and all the sweaty dancing while wearing flannel in the middle of the summer that was had over the years. Raise your PBRs to the memories made and keep an eye out for your favorite knick knack decoration because we hear they will be auctioning off some things later this month!]
You know how the rest of the country thinks Florida is this haven of sunshine and beaches and horrible political decisions? The last one is true, but by this time during the year true Floridians have two strong words for the sweltering heat, humidity, and the sun. The Milk District is having a party that captures those two words perfectly- Body//Talk's Fuck Summer party. There will be DJs spinning and an area with face-painting, hopscotch, and jump ropes for all your silly party needs. Starts at 9pm.
Sunday, August 17th
You know what my car really needs? Free gas. But also a wash! Thornton Park is doing a community Car Wash to benefit their Tree Lighting Beautification Project. Cars will get washed at Wildside BBQ & Grill from 11:00am to 2:00pm. (There will be no free gas.)
Speaking of ways to support your local charities, the Orange County Animal Services and Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando is throwing a Canines, Cats & Cabaret event at the Orlando REP where 100% of the proceeds go directly to the care of Orange County's homeless animals. $25, 7:30-10:00pm, cash bar, cute animals, human performers.
What are you up to this weekend?
