Weekend Preview: August 8th - August 10th, 2014

Cup-A-Thon XXX is this Friday and Saturday, complete with wet t-shirt contests, adult film stars, and...wait, wrong event. Let's try that again: Cup-A-Thon XXX is this Friday and Saturday, which is your chance to browse hundreds of original ceramic mugs, goblets, and bowls that you can buy to support the Crealdé School of Art.

ONF a.k.a. #ONF2014 a.k.a. Orlando Nerd Fest is happening this weekend through Monday to bring you an extra dose of everything nerd, from culture and costumes to musicians and artists. Passes are $20 on Friday, ($30 on Saturday...as if we condone events over $20...), $15 on Sunday, and FREE on Monday when it moves over to The Geek Easy. Free parking every day, too!

Friday, August 8th

Second Fridays will keep you busy in Central Florida. First, the Conductor Crawl joins the Second Friday schedule and is happening at 6:00pm at Ceviche on Church Street.

Next up is the Mount Dora Art Stroll from 6:00 to 8:00pm. With artsy galleries, cute shops, and adorable restaurants, it's like a crafty version of Disneyworld. Finally, Casselberry's Art & Music in the Park (complete with The Food Truck Bazaar) is happening from 6:00 to 9:00pm. 

Jai Gallery is having an exhibit opening this Friday starting at 6:00pm for Radiance: Monte Olinger Solo Exhibition. Likewise, Groundwork: A Living Walls Art Show opens the same night at Twelve21 Gallery, starting at 6:00pm, featuring works of living art.


If you have a 4 Non Blondes song ready to be belted out, then stop by Nerdy Karaoke this Friday from 8:00pm to midnight at The Geek Easy. No cover and drink specials!

A glass of wine never hurt nobody, so stop by Quantum Leap Winery for their Wine Down event from 7:00 to 10:00pm, with live music, food, and lots of wine.

Saturday, August 9th

A Mid Summers' Night Dream for Time Travelers Masquerade Ball. (I don't even know what to say about that title, other than that I think it's "A Midsummer Night's Dream....") Adventurous souls can stop by Sanford's Little Fish Huge Pond for a night of steampunk costumes, live performances, a DJ, vendors, and other activities. Tickets are $10 and include a drink.

Take a day trip to discover some good beer on the Space Coast at the North Brevard Craft Brew Fest this Saturday from 3:00 to 7:00pm at Sand Point Park in Titusville. 

Put your hands up, bitches: It's time for another Big Bang Bazaar. Bring some new indie art, trendy crafts, and cool vintage finds into your home. $5 cover; 11:00am to 6:00pm.

Sunday, August 10th

Check out some of the best local film-making at Enzian's FilmSlam '14 happening this Sunday at 1:00pm. Tickets are $5.

TheDailyCity's Food Truck Bazaar is back in Orlando this weekend. Stop by Fashion Square Mall this Sunday between 6:00 and 9:00pm and grab dinner at over two dozen mobile restaurant options.
