It's the weekend before the weekend that is consumed with costumes and drunk fools roaming our city. Take advantage of the calm before the storm.

Movie buffs, listen up: Orlando Film Festival this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Downtown's Cobb Plaza Theater on Orange. Day passes are $15. Lots of movies and plenty of events.

The 30th Annual Mount Dora Craft Fair is happening Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Get. Your. Craft. On.

It's also the Lake Mary Heathrow Festival of the Arts this Saturday and Sunday. So, you should probably do that too.

Friday, October 24th
Your chance to finally join
the Midnight Society!

IDENTITY opening at Snap! Space at 7:00pm; free; rsvp. Catch an Artist Talk with Zun Lee the following day (Saturday) from 2:00 to 4:00pm. (also free. also awesome)

High Fidelity: James Cornetet Solo Exhibition at Jai Gallery. The vernissage (preview) party is this Friday from 7:00 to 10:00pm; free but rsvp is appreciated.

Leu Gardens goes creepy with Ghost Stories, Friday night at 6:00pm. Food and drinks available for purchase; $10 adults, $5 kids/members.

Friday is your last day to get tickets for Sunday's Halloween DIY Workshop! (See below.)

Saturday, October 25th

Orlando's Most Authentic Oktoberfest this Saturday from 2:00 to 11:00pm in Casselberry.

For an option with less sausage and schnitzel but equal amounts of cabbage, try the Central Florida Veg Fest from 10:00 to 6:00pm. Free.

The College Park Jazz Fest is back this Saturday from 6:00pm to 10:00pm along Edgewater Drive with headliners Tiffany and Sisaundra Lewis (from The Voice). $5 minimum donation.

The election is coming up fast! Votelando is a free voters rally and festival with four stages and 70 acts. Includes food trucks, dunk station, drink specials, and more.

Following Votelando, catch local darling who left ua (#neverforget) Kaleigh Baker at the Votelando After Show at the Milk Bar at 10:30pm. She's amazing- don't miss it!

Sunday, October 26th

This Sunday from 11:00am to 3:00pm, Barber Park (5301 Gatlin Ave) is hosting the Conway Farmers' Market with produce, baked goods, food trucks, and arts and crafts.

Happy Czechoslovakian Independence Day! (What, you didn't know that?) Celebrate at the beautiful Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens' free open house this Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00pm. (Perhaps after the Winter Park Farmers Market?)

Do-it-yourself stamp making and Halloween crafting is going down at West Elm's Halloween DIY Workshop this Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Your $20 ticket includes stamps, crafts, greeting card, tote bag, snacks, beverages, and entrance to the store's limited-time pop-up shop (opening at 1:00pm).
