T.G.I.Halloween! We want everyone to have an awesome time this spooky weekend, but please do be extra careful on the road and don't be afraid to call a cab or an Uber to get home!
Friday, October 31st
While you can pretty much go anywhere and find a Halloween party, there's only one place you can go this Friday to hear the entire soundtrack to Pulp Fiction played by some of the best Orlando musicians. Will's Pub will have two show times of Pulp Fiction Live and is offering a free drink if you are in costume and three drinks if you're in a gimp costume (if you don't know what it is, I advise against Google image searches). The neighboring bars are also joining in the theme for the night, so don't be afraid to wander! $12 at the door, 8:00pm.
Start the weekend off in a healthy way with Orlando's Critical Mass's Halloween Critical Blast: Ride of the Living Dead! Grab your costume and bike (and helmet--safety first!) and meet up with everyone at 5:30pm at Loch Haven Park between the Science Center and Orlando Rep.
Oblivoween is sure to get your taste buds in the holiday spirit with different specials and a free haunted house. 6:00pm, and bring your appetite!
If you're looking for a quieter night but still want some classic Halloween enjoyment and possible nightmares while you sleep, the Enzian is playing two films to get you in the mood. Freddy vs. Jason will be playing at 7:30pm and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre at midnight! $10; we recommend buying tickets in advance.
If you've never seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show, well, shame on you (no, really, fix that now and forever understand why everyone loves Tim Curry). Here's your chance to catch it this Halloween at The Abbey. $20, doors at 7:00pm. Let's do the time warp again!
It's probably safe to say everyone has tried the downtown thing on Halloween at least once in their Orlandoan existence. And while it's a fun adventure, if you're looking for a fun block party that won't end with a drunk college girl puking on your rented Dorothy costume (looking at you girl in cat costume three years ago), check out Thornton Park's Halloween Block Party. $10, 9:00pm. They will have live music, a DJ, a burlesque show, photobooths, and a lot more!
Saturday, November 1st
While we love us some craft beer and can sometimes be a little nerdy about it, we still get a little twinge of jealousy when we meet someone who brews their own beer. If you're like us, Orlando Brewing Company is doing you a solid by taking part in National Learn to Homebrew Day. From 1:00 to 5:00pm, free of charge, you can see exactly how beer is made and how to recreate it at home! It's like when you got your first kid's science experiment kit, only now the end result is beer instead of smushed bugs between two microscope slides.
Take advantage of the crisp weather this weekend with not only hot lattes (we'll stop making fun of pumpkin spice drinkers, we promise), but also the annual Fall Fiesta in the Park at Lake Eola. More than 300 local and national artists and crafters invite you to buy your holiday gifts and decorations from small, independent businesses this year at an event that attracted thousands last year. Starts at 10:00am and runs through Sunday 5:00pm.
