Concerts, comedy, and Marlon Brando when he was hot--what more could you want from this weekend??
Friday, November 7th

Let's always take a moment to honor those that are willing to lay their lives down for the country they believe in. Show your support by taking part in Winter Park's 4th Annual Veteran's Day Celebration, starting at 9:30am.
Saturday, November 8th
You know what's better than a free concert? A free concert with an artist you actually have heard of and want to see! Check out the free (did we mention it's free?) concert: Celebration of the Seneff Arts Plaza starring Cheryl Crow starting at 8:00pm. This concert is to promote the new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, so don't forget to have a look around while you're there. Also, it's free.
So, before you check out the artist that makes us break into song whenever "All I Wanna Do" comes on our playlists, take a self-guided tour of all the various areas of the new building during the Community Open House going on from noon - 6:00pm. Again, free!
Oi, did you know Britweek Orlando has been going on? We aren't pissing around, either--it's a proper festival in different cities. This year's do will end on Saturday with a British Bonfire Night that's sure to be aces! $5 general admission, 5:30 to 10:00pm and if you want to be cheeky you could wear your "Orlando is the tits" shirt and blend right in, mate. Cheerio. (Ok, now we've gone through all the British slang we know.)
Sunday, November 9th
We've been pretty obsessed with Mindy Kaling ever since her character from The Office made us laugh so hard we snorted (sexy, right?). Well, we now have a chance to watch the comedic play she came up with with her roommate before she was famous about what Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were like before they were famous. Matt and Ben starts at 7:00pm at The Venue, $15.
Speaking of awesome comedic plays, Play de Luna Presents: Disorderly Conduct is a collection of funny one act plays that are sure to keep you laughing until Monday morning. Starts at 6:00pm, $12, and get tickets in advance because half the shows are already sold out!
What are you up to this weekend Orlandoans? Tell us below!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Laura!
DeleteThis is awesome. Finally someone that keeps me informed of what's going on in the city. As an immigrant is really difficult to know any of these things. Unless, of course you have someone "in the field" but if you're new in town this is impossible.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
PS: if you need any collaborators of any kind I would gladly try to help out with this amazing blog.
Thanks so much for the feedback! Glad we could be your in the field people. We always welcome story ideas, so feel free to email us@theorlandoan.com :-)
